Odor Gas Monitoring System Solution for Livestock Farms

Published: 2026-11-02 16:48:46
As the pig farming industry increasingly moves toward large-scale and standardized development, more and more odorous gases such as ammonia and hydrogen sulfide are being generated during the breeding process. These gases not only pollute the air and affect on-site workers but also impact the lives of nearby residents. Realizing the monitoring and treatment of odorous gases on livestock farms is therefore imperative. To address this, an IoT gateway-based odor gas monitoring system helps achieve real-time online monitoring and timely control of odorous gases, safeguarding air quality.

Solution Overview

Multiple gas sensors are deployed on the livestock farm and connected to IoT gateways via RS-485. The system can collect real-time concentration data for gases such as ammonia, hydrogen sulfide, carbon dioxide, and particulate matter, and transmit it via 5G/4G networks to a remote monitoring platform—enabling visualized data display, remote monitoring, and over-limit alerting. It can also integrate with environmental protection bureau platforms (HJ212), strengthening law enforcement supervision capabilities and safeguarding regional air quality.

Functions

Real-Time Monitoring – The system monitors the concentration of odorous gases in the livestock farm in real time—including harmful gases such as ammonia and hydrogen sulfide—and generates visualized data reports for easy search and retri.

Alarm Notifications – The system supports multiple alarm methods, such as SMS, email, and WeChat push notifications. Once odorous gas levels exceed standards, the system immediately triggers the alarm mechanism, notifying users to take appropriate measures.

Data Analytics – Performs in-depth analysis of collected data, generating data reports and trend charts that help the livestock farm understand emission patterns and influencing factors of odorous gases—providing a basis for formulating treatment measures.

Data Sharing – Provides API data interfaces to integrate with environmental protection bureau platforms in accordance with the HJ212 protocol. When abnormalities occur, the system can quickly identify the alarming station, clarify the responsible person and specific alarm information, and enable precise law enforcement.
