Smart Remote Monitoring and Management System Solution for Urban and Rural Integrated Water Supply

Published: 2026-04-15 17:47:00

As urbanization accelerates and the rural revitalization strategy advances in China, the integration of urban and rural development has become an inevitable trend. In this context, integrated urban-rural water supply has emerged as a key initiative to ensure safe drinking water for residents in both cities and villages, while promoting balanced development between urban and rural areas. However, traditional manual management combined with localized supervision often suffers from poor information flow, low management efficiency, and water waste — making it increasingly inadequate for the demands of modern, precision water supply.

To address these challenges, WideIOT provides highly reliable and efficient IoT solutions. By deploying industrial IoT gateways for water utilities and connecting devices such as water quality analyzers, water level sensors, flow meters, pressure gauges, and PLC controllers, the system enables real-time data collection on water quality, pressure, flow rate, valve status, pump operation, and more. It also provides wireless internet access for these devices, allowing a smart water management platform to offer monitoring, alerting, control, data analysis, and other functions — significantly improving work efficiency and management capabilities.

Key Features

1. Water Quality Monitoring and Early Warning

The system continuously monitors water quality indicators at water sources, treatment plants, and pipe network endpoints, including pH, turbidity, residual chlorine, heavy metal content, and more. When any indicator exceeds a preset threshold, the system automatically sends alerts via SMS, email, or WeChat, notifying relevant personnel to take corrective action.

2. Water Supply Dispatch and Control

The system monitors real-time flow and pressure data across the pipe network, enabling coordinated dispatching of water sources, treatment plants, and distribution networks to ensure a stable and reliable water supply for both urban and rural areas. It also provides remote control functions, allowing dispatchers to intervene from anywhere — for example, starting or stopping pumps, opening or closing valves, etc.

3. Equipment Operation and Maintenance Management

The system monitors real-time pressure, flow, and leak conditions in the pipe network, as well as operational parameters of equipment such as pumps and chemical dosing units. It also creates a centralized equipment asset database, managing basic equipment information, maintenance records, repair history, and more. This enables optimized allocation of work orders, personnel, spare parts, and other resources.

4. Billing and Data Integration

The system provides an API data interface to support water usage billing and statistical management. It facilitates the management of individual user consumption and supports online bill inquiries, payments, and overdue payment reminders. This ensures smooth operation of all water utility services while maintaining secure and reliable data sharing.
