Remote Monitoring IoT System for Mining Area Solar Power Stations

Published: 2026-04-20 17:57:40

An openpit mine located in a remote area suffers from unstable grid power supply. Combined with the high energy demand of mining and mineral processing, this has led to rising energy costs — a major factor affecting profitability.

To address this, the company has built a solar power station on the mine's waste dump, paired with an energy storage system. This enables charging during offpeak hours and discharging during peak hours, ensuring stable power supply and reducing energy costs.

WideIOT provides a solution for collecting solar and storage system data and connecting it to an EMS (Energy Management System), offering reliable digital support for mining energy management.

By deploying industrial IoT gateways to connect instruments, BMS, inverters, sensors, and other devices, the system supports protocols such as IEC 61850, IEC 101/103/104, MQTT, and Modbus. Data is sent to the EMS platform for remote monitoring, alarming, management, control, and data analysis — enabling intelligent operation of solar and storage power stations and improving efficiency.

Key Features

Unified data collection from PV inverters, BMS, mining equipment (crushers, ball mills, conveyors, etc.), and smart meters. Supports 5G/4G/WiFi/Ethernet connectivity.

Automatic alarm thresholds — when anomalies are detected, alerts are sent via WeChat, SMS, or email to relevant managers for rapid diagnosis and action, ensuring stable power supply.

Calculates KPIs such as selfgenerated solar usage, peak/offpeak energy ratios, storage cycle efficiency, and energy consumption per ton of ore. Generates daily/weekly/monthly/yearly reports and supports multidimensional comparison (e.g., across different waste dump areas).

Centralized device monitoring and management via a cloud configuration interface. Quick access to device operation records and logs enables a traceable, visualized, and standardized management process.

In case of network interruption, the gateway stores collected data locally. Once the connection is restored, it automatically resumes uploading historical data from the downtime period, ensuring data integrity.
