IoT Remote Monitoring System Solution for Station Water Supply Pump Stations

Published: 2026-10-28 11:45:24
As an important component of a station's water supply system, the operating condition of water supply pump stations directly affects the safety and stability of the station's water supply. It bears on the normal operation of the station, passengers' water needs, and the stability of water supply in surrounding areas. Therefore, to ensure the safe operation of station water supply pump stations, a series of measures must be taken—such as strengthening routine maintenance and management of pump stations, regularly inspecting equipment operating status, and promptly detecting and addressing potential faults.

With the continuous advancement of IoT technology, remote monitoring IoT systems are playing an increasingly important role in station water supply pump stations, addressing various pain points encountered in daily pump station operation and maintenance.

Traditional pump station equipment operates as standalone units—equipment status cannot be known, and faults cannot be responded to and repaired quickly.
Traditional inspection methods mostly rely on manual recording, which is time-consuming and labor-intensive, with low work efficiency and high maintenance costs.
Although the number of pump stations is large, there is a lack of informatization tools for centralized management and data analysis, leading to poor decision-making.

Solution

By deploying industrial smart gateways at pump station sites and connecting them to controller PLCs, the system can collect real-time data and transmit it to the pump station monitoring and management platform via 5G/4G networks. This enables real-time monitoring of pump station equipment operating status and process parameters, over-limit alerting, remote control, and remote maintenance—establishing a data-driven management and decision-making workflow to ensure water supply safety.

Functions

Data Acquisition – Collected data is automatically stored on the management cloud platform—including pump room operating data, alarm events, and operation records—providing a basis for subsequent data analysis and fault troubleshooting.

Remote Monitoring – Round-the-clock, 24-hour real-time monitoring of pump and valve status, water level, pressure, flow rate, voltage, current, and other parameters within the pump station, along with surveillance video, with remote access via mobile and PC.

Fault Alerting – Intelligent alarm rules monitor and analyze pump room operating data to promptly identify potential fault hazards and issue early warnings, with notifications via WeChat, SMS, and email.

Emergency Control – Enables remote control of pumps, valves, and other equipment for rapid management during abnormalities. It balances pump loads, ensures safe equipment operation, and reasonably mitigates risks.

Visualized Management – Visualized SCADA interfaces display the operating status and process data of pump room reservoirs, pipe networks, pump units, and other equipment, providing intuitive insight into pump room operations.

Data Management – Various data points are presented as visualized data reports. By analyzing pump room operating data, pump operating strategies can be optimized to achieve energy savings and safe operation.
