IoT Solution for PLC Data Acquisition on Bottom-Sealing Machines

Published: 2026-09-15 16:31:37

A bottom-sealing machine is an automated packaging machine primarily used for the bottom-sealing stage of the product packaging process. These machines automatically or semi-automatically seal the bottom of packaging bags, ensuring product airtightness and packaging integrity.

The working principle of a bottom-sealing machine typically involves heating the bottom joint of the packaging material to a molten state using heating elements (such as hot knives or hot pressing plates), and then applying mechanical pressure to bond the material—forming a tight seal. These machines are widely used in packaging processes across the food, pharmaceutical, daily necessities, and chemical industries, playing an important role in improving production efficiency, ensuring packaging quality, and reducing labor intensity.

Therefore, collecting and monitoring data such as temperature, pressure, speed, voltage, and current during bottom-sealing machine operation is critically important, providing reliable data-driven support for production operations. To address this, WideIOT offers an IoT solution based on PLC data acquisition. By connecting the PLC to the bottom-sealing machine, the system collects real-time data and uploads it via 5G/4G/Wi-Fi/Ethernet to cloud platforms or host systems—enabling remote monitoring, fault alerting, remote control, remote maintenance, and data analytics to ensure equipment and production safety.

System Functions

  1. Data Acquisition – By collecting data from sensors and controllers on the bottom-sealing machine, the system monitors real-time operating data—such as temperature, pressure, sealing quality, and equipment status (running/stopped/faulted)—and uploads it to a server.

  2. Remote Monitoring – Using PCs or mobile devices, operators can remotely monitor the bottom-sealing machine's working status in real time, view equipment parameters and operating data, and promptly detect and address anomalies.

  3. Data Analytics – In-depth analysis of large volumes of collected data uncovers insights into equipment performance metrics, production efficiency, and energy consumption—providing data support for enterprises to optimize production processes and improve equipment effectiveness.

  4. Fault Alerting – Through real-time monitoring of equipment operating data, the system detects anomalies promptly and notifies relevant personnel via WeChat, SMS, or email, enabling timely action to prevent equipment damage and production interruptions.

  5. Equipment Maintenance – Based on operating data and historical repair records, the system can predict maintenance needs and replacement part requirements, generate maintenance work orders, and assign maintenance personnel—supporting remote programming, debugging, and program upload/download operations.

  6. User Interface – Provides a user-friendly interface with both web-based and mobile applications, allowing users to conveniently access and operate equipment, view data reports, and monitor production status.
