Integrated Water and Fertilizer IoT System

Published: 2026-10-21 11:41:08

System Concept

The integrated water and fertilizer IoT system is a smart agriculture solution based on modern agricultural IoT technology that deeply integrates soil moisture monitoring, irrigation control, and IoT systems. Leveraging advanced technologies such as big data, cloud computing, IoT, and intelligent sensing—combined with soil moisture and meteorological information—the system enables unified regulation and integrated management of crop irrigation and fertilization. It achieves precise, scheduled, and quantified irrigation and fertilization, effectively improving water and fertilizer utilization efficiency and advancing green agriculture.

Working Principle

Various sensor groups deployed in the field—such as soil temperature and moisture sensors and light sensors—continuously capture key parameters in real time, including soil moisture, nutrient content, air temperature and humidity, and light intensity.

The collected environmental parameters, together with data from the integrated water and fertilizer PLC equipment, are acquired through WideIOT smart gateways and transmitted to a remote monitoring platform via 5G/4G/Wi-Fi/Ethernet.

The remote monitoring platform provides visualized processing, display, and alerting of environmental and irrigation parameters. It also intelligently controls the switching of solenoid valves and pumps to achieve precise agricultural irrigation, with remote access supported via mobile phones and computers.

Functions

Remote Monitoring – Through management interfaces on mobile phones, computers, and other terminal devices, users can view real-time monitoring data and equipment operating status in irrigation areas—including soil moisture, nutrient conditions, meteorological environment, soil water content, soil electrical conductivity, soil pH, and evaporation. This provides a solid data foundation for scientific irrigation and fertilization.

Precision Control – Through real-time monitoring and data analysis, the system adjusts irrigation and fertilization plans remotely, manually, or automatically based on soil moisture, meteorological information, and crop growth status. This enables unattended automatic irrigation and fertilization, reducing manual input and labor intensity while avoiding the blindness and resource waste associated with traditional irrigation and fertilization methods.

Flexible Alerts – Supports remote configuration of multiple alarm rules. When environmental abnormalities or equipment faults are detected, the system automatically alerts management personnel through platform messages, WeChat, email, SMS, and other channels—facilitating rapid localization and response.

Data Analytics – Enables visualized display of various data, generates reports or trend charts, and provides access to live monitoring footage for intuitive insight into field conditions. This supports scientific analysis of water and fertilizer application volumes alongside crop growth, optimizing agricultural production strategies.
