Achieving Real-Time Factory Energy Monitoring through IEC 104 Meter Data Acquisition

The IEC 104 protocol is a standardized power communication protocol that uses TCP/IP as its underlying communication protocol. It is used to monitor and control various devices in power systems, such as substations, generators, and switches. In practical factory applications, there is often a need to connect smart meters using the IEC 104 power protocol to an energy consumption monitoring platform—enabling real-time energy monitoring, energy data analytics, and energy-saving optimization.

To address this, WideIOT offers an IoT solution based on data acquisition gateways. By connecting multiple IEC 104 meters within a factory to data acquisition gateways, the gateways perform data collection and protocol conversion, and forward the data to the energy monitoring platform via MQTT/Modbus and other protocols. This enables monitoring of electrical energy consumption data and supports energy management and data analytics across individual workshops and systems—better helping enterprises reduce costs, improve efficiency, and advance energy-efficient production.

Energy Efficiency Assessment – Through in-depth analysis of energy consumption data, enterprises can uate the energy efficiency of individual equipment and production lines, providing recommendations for optimizing energy use and establishing appropriate energy-saving targets.

Data Integration – Energy consumption data from multiple factories can be aggregated into a group monitoring center or energy dashboard, enabling better assessment of each factory's operational performance and supporting macro-level control and sustainable operations.
