Environmental Data Collection to MES System with Production Batch Binding

Published: 2026-07-11 11:01:59

Background

A manufacturing workshop has stringent requirements for temperature and humidity, where even minor fluctuations in environmental parameters can affect product quality. However, workshop temperature and humidity records still rely on manual meter reading every two hours, with data logged on paper forms. Meanwhile, the production batch information in the MES system and these environmental data remain entirely separate, with no link between them. When it comes to quality traceability, it has always been difficult to pinpoint exactly which time period or which stage of the process experienced environmental deviations that led to quality issues in defective products.

Solution Overview

WideIOT provides an IoT solution that collects temperature and humidity data and integrates it into the MES system. Multiple temperature and humidity sensors are scattered across the workshop at considerable distances from one another. I/O data collection terminals are deployed in a one-to-one configuration with each sensor, capturing real-time temperature and humidity readings and transmitting them via the workshop's WiFi network through data passthrough to the MES system. This allows environmental data to be bound to each production batch, enabling management to review the production timestamps and corresponding temperature and humidity records for every batch, as well as export the data for convenient statistical analysis, comparison, and review.

Key Features

1. Precise Multi-Channel I/O Acquisition – The WideIOT I/O data collection terminals support multiple I/O signal inputs, enabling accurate acquisition of data from temperature and humidity sensors distributed throughout the workshop, ensuring both accuracy and real-time performance of the raw data.

2. Wireless Data Passthrough via WiFi – The terminals transmit data stably to the MES system over the workshop's WiFi network using wireless data passthrough, completely replacing manual meter reading and eliminating data latency and human recording errors.

3. Automated Alerts for Environmental Deviations – When temperature or humidity exceeds preset safety thresholds, the system automatically notifies management via WeChat, SMS, email, or audible/visual alarms, enabling rapid identification and corrective action to safeguard environmental conditions and product quality.

4. Precise Batch-Level Traceability – When quality fluctuations occur in finished products, management can accurately trace back the complete temperature and humidity records for the specific production batch in the MES system, precisely identifying the environmental factors that may have impacted product quality.

5. Visualized Trend Charts and Batch Reports – The MES system generates visual temperature and humidity trend charts and batch reports. Management can export data by multiple dimensions—including time, production line, and batch—to facilitate statistical process control and process optimization analysis.

6. Industrial-Grade Reliability for 24/7 Operation – The WideIOT I/O data collection terminals feature industrial-grade design, supporting wide-temperature operation and hardware/software watchdog self-recovery mechanisms. They operate stably around the clock in complex workshop environments, ensuring uninterrupted data acquisition.
