Online Water Quality Monitoring System for Fisheries Based on LoRa Transmission

Published: 2026-06-17 10:45:31

China is the world's largest aquaculture producer, with vast farming areas and production volumes that have ranked among the top globally for many consecutive years. However, traditional aquaculture management still has notable shortcomings: water quality monitoring relies primarily on manual periodic sampling, making it impossible to track realtime changes in key parameters such as dissolved oxygen, pH, temperature, and ammonia nitrogen. This leads to water quality deterioration, frequent fish diseases, and improper feeding practices, which seriously undermine farming efficiency and product quality. Particularly during hot seasons or in highdensity farming environments, sudden water quality fluctuations often result in significant economic losses.

To address these challenges, WideIOT offers an online water quality monitoring system for fisheries based on LoRa transmission. By connecting dissolved oxygen sensors, pH sensors, temperature sensors, conductivity sensors, ammonia nitrogen sensors, and other devices to WideIOT's LoRa wireless terminals, the system can collect realtime water quality and meteorological data. The data is transmitted via the LoRa network to WideIOT's 4G gateway, and then reported to the smart aquaculture IoT cloud platform through the 4G network, enabling remote monitoring, alerting, management, control, and data analysis functionalities.

Key Features

The LoRa smart gateway connects to a variety of aquaculture water quality sensors, collecting realtime data on critical parameters such as dissolved oxygen, pH, ammonia nitrogen, nitrite, and temperature, as well as water level and flow rate information, providing 24/7 roundtheclock monitoring.

The system has preset threshold limits for each parameter. When data anomalies are detected, alerts are sent to managers via SMS, email, and WeChat in a timely manner, ensuring rapid response to abnormal conditions.

Supports remote control of aerators, water pumps, and other equipment through the management platform, enabling remote on/off switching and parameter adjustments to maintain stable aquaculture water quality.

Managers can view camera feeds from the farming site at any time via mobile phones or computers. The system supports multiscreen simultaneous viewing, providing an intuitive understanding of onsite conditions to support decisionmaking.

Offers API data interfaces for quick integration with public display screens or enterprise monitoring centers, enabling realtime data sharing and interaction, and supporting the development of a comprehensive aquaculture management system.
