Remote Monitoring System Solution for Water Treatment Plant Pump Stations

Published: 2026-10-20 11:40:18
In the daily operation of modern cities, a clean and stable water supply is an indispensable part of urban infrastructure. As the starting point of this supply chain, water treatment plants rely on the efficient coordination of every internal process. Among these, pump stations play a central role—ensuring both the smooth operation of water treatment processes and the stable pressurization of treated water leaving the plant, thereby meeting residents' water demands.

Consider an existing water treatment plant pump station consisting mainly of Siemens PLCs and SCADA host systems connected via Ethernet, along with a UPS energy storage cabinet that automatically starts and stops to provide power if the PLC cabinet loses electricity. Because much of the data remains confined to local systems, staff are required to remain on duty at all times—creating an increasing workload and rising management costs.

To address this, WideIOT offers a remote monitoring system solution for water treatment plant pump stations based on industrial smart gateways. By deploying gateways in the PLC control cabinets and UPS energy storage cabinets, the system collects real-time equipment operating data and transmits it via 4G networks to both the SCADA host system and a remote monitoring platform. This enables remote monitoring, fault alerting, remote control, remote maintenance, and data analytics—providing reliable support for refined pump station management.

Functions

Enables data acquisition from PLC control cabinets and UPS energy storage cabinets, allowing both the SCADA host system and the remote monitoring platform to monitor the pump station in real time. Users can view equipment operating status and process parameters via PC or mobile devices anytime, anywhere.

Through preset alarm conditions—such as outlet flow rate and outlet pressure—the system automatically triggers alerts when abnormal data is detected, with notifications via WeChat, SMS, or email—enabling rapid localization, diagnosis, and control management.

Enables remote manual control of various pump station equipment operating states—such as pump start/stop and valve open/close—reducing on-site staffing costs and providing convenient, efficient operational support toward an unattended pump station.

Engineers can perform PLC maintenance without traveling to the site, including remote programming, debugging, and program upload/download for off-site PLCs—improving work efficiency and reducing travel frequency.

Provides API data interfaces for integration with the group monitoring center platform, enabling real-time data transmission and stable communication. Users can access information such as water output, water quality, and production efficiency—supporting rational allocation and regulation of resources.
