IoT Solution for Boiler Water Treatment Equipment

Published: 2026-08-31 11:27:04
Industrial boilers are widely used across various industries due to their high thermal efficiency, low operating energy consumption, and fuel efficiency. However, for many small and medium-sized enterprises, boiler water treatment is often overlooked. Most still rely on manual sampling and monitoring—a process that is labor-intensive and prone to human error. As a result, key parameters such as blowdown rate, cleaning intervals, and feedwater quality are not well understood, which over time can lead to reduced thermal efficiency, increased fuel consumption, and higher energy costs.

To enable automated, unattended monitoring of boiler water treatment equipment, WideIOT offers a remote monitoring system solution based on industrial smart gateways. This intelligent system monitors and controls multiple parameters—including feedwater, boiler water, steam flow, water quality, and water level. By connecting PLCs, level transmitters, gas flow meters, water quality analyzers, and other devices to WideIOT industrial smart gateways, the system collects real-time data and uploads it to cloud platforms or local host systems. This enables visualized monitoring and management, remote control and maintenance, and intelligent data analytics—helping enterprises implement refined management and prevent potential risks.

System Capabilities:

Robust Hardware for Harsh Environments – The gateway operates reliably at temperatures ranging from -20°C to 70°C, making it suitable for installation in boiler rooms. It connects to PLCs, level transmitters, gas flow meters, water quality analyzers, and other devices via RS-485, RS-232, and Ethernet ports for comprehensive data acquisition.

Automated Operation and Real-Time Data Upload – The system runs autonomously, continuously monitoring water quality indicators, voltage, current, water level, flow rate, water pressure, and more. Data is uploaded to cloud platforms or local hosts in real time via 5G/4G/Wi-Fi/Ethernet.

Visualized Data Display – Monitoring data is presented through intuitive dashboards—including bar charts, real-time curves, historical trends, and dynamic graphics—customized to site conditions. Reports and charts on water quality, faults, and alarm logs are readily available for analysis.

Customizable Alerts – Alarm thresholds can be freely configured. When monitored parameters exceed preset limits, the system automatically sends alerts via WeChat, SMS, or email to designated personnel, including detailed alarm information and optionally generating maintenance work orders.

Maintenance Work Order Tracking – Users can quickly view responsible personnel, progress status, and work logs for each maintenance order, enabling uation and optimization of maintenance operations to ensure timely fault resolution.

Remote PLC Maintenance – With the Remote Maintenance Tunnel, engineers can perform remote PLC programming, debugging, and program upload/download from anywhere—significantly improving maintenance efficiency and reducing operational costs.
