Remote Monitoring System Solution for Distributed Photovoltaic Power Stations

Published: 2026-08-28 14:36:59
In recent years, distributed photovoltaic (PV) power stations have experienced explosive growth, with installed capacity continuing to rise. However, these stations are typically numerous, widely scattered, and equipped with a variety of devices that often use incompatible protocols—making data integration difficult and operation and maintenance (O&M) costly. To address these challenges, WideIOT offers a data acquisition solution based on industrial IoT technology that collects controller and I/O data, enabling efficient, intelligent remote monitoring and O&M, while strengthening overall energy management.

The solution leverages edge computing gateways to connect to PV inverters, PLCs, smart meters, sensors, and other devices, enabling on-site data processing and intelligent computation. Tailored to the O&M characteristics of distributed PV stations, the system processes data rapidly at the edge—reducing latency and relieving computational pressure on cloud servers—while improving equipment performance and data utilization efficiency.

In addition, the edge computing gateways support 5G communication for high-bandwidth, low-latency data exchange with cloud platforms, enabling a broader range of services across more scenarios. For areas without 5G coverage, 4G uplink capabilities are also available, ensuring seamless real-time communication between the central management center and individual substations, as well as comprehensive equipment and maintenance management.

System Capabilities:

Real-Time Asset Tracking – Displays the geographic location of PV generation equipment on an electronic map, allowing users to quickly locate and retrieve data; regional operational performance can be viewed through aggregated map views.
Comprehensive Equipment Monitoring – Provides real-time visualization of PV equipment operating status and key parameters, including switching status, current, voltage, temperature, power output, and more.
Digital Equipment Management – Enables online management of PV equipment, with quick access to and editing of model specifications, parameters, location, operating hours, and other information.
Fault Management and Work Order Dispatch – Logs fault events and accurately pushes notifications to relevant staff; automatically generates maintenance work orders and assigns them to field technicians.
O&M Resource Optimization – Analyzes maintenance needs across all sites to optimize resource allocation, while continuously improving products and services based on work logs, customer feedback, and operational data.
Smart Data Analytics and Visualization – Displays cumulative power generation, real-time output, and corresponding energy-saving metrics through pie charts, trend graphs, reports, and tables; leverages big data analytics to support informed decision-making.
