IoT System Solution for Farmland Water Conservancy Projects

Published: 2026-09-02 13:44:37
Farmland water conservancy projects are vital infrastructure for agricultural production, playing a key role in ensuring national food security and promoting sustainable agricultural development. Today, these projects are expected to go beyond establishing sound water resource allocation systems and promoting water-saving technologies. They must also strengthen operational management and maintenance to ensure that their full benefits are realized—better serving agricultural production and supporting rural revitalization and smart agriculture initiatives.

WideIOT offers an IoT system solution tailored to various types of farmland water conservancy projects, enabling digital applications such as data acquisition, remote monitoring, and remote control—providing reliable tools for agricultural management and field operations. At the core of the system are industrial smart gateways, which connect to equipment such as pumps, gates, PLCs, and flow meters in water conservancy facilities. The gateways collect data and transmit it wirelessly to a remote monitoring platform, allowing users to view real-time operational status and alarm information for each project. This enables timely management and control actions to ensure normal crop growth.

1. Water Source Projects – These include reservoirs, pond dams, and well-irrigation areas. By connecting to water level sensors, flow meters, gates, PLCs, and other devices, the system enables real-time monitoring and early warning of flow rate, water level, gate status, voltage, current, and more. This supports scientific and rational regulation of water resources in time and space, ensuring that agricultural water demand is met.

2. Water Conveyance Projects – These refer to the facilities that deliver water from the source to farmland, including channels, pipelines, aqueducts, and more. By collecting data on channel water level and flow, as well as pipeline pressure and flow, the system provides visibility into the operational status of the conveyance system. When alerts are triggered, timely action can be taken to ensure system safety.

3. Water Distribution Projects – These mainly include distribution hubs, valve chambers, pumping stations, and related facilities, enabling rational allocation of water across farmland to improve water use efficiency. By connecting equipment such as water level sensors, flow meters, pumps, gates, and PLCs to industrial gateways, data can be accessed via mobile and PC monitoring platforms—supporting remote control and remote supervision.

4. Water-Saving Projects – These include irrigation systems such as sprinkler, drip, and seepage irrigation, whose control PLCs are connected to the industrial gateways. With pre-set irrigation strategies, the system enables "on-demand, timed, and quantified" smart irrigation. In case of abnormalities, alerts are sent via WeChat, SMS, or email, enabling quick responses to prevent water waste or crop damage from flooding.
