Data Acquisition Solution for Scrap Briquetting Presses

Published: 2026-08-17 11:50:02
A scrap briquetting press is a type of metal baling press commonly found in scrap recycling stations. Its primary function is to compress and package sorted metal materials. With PLC-based control, the briquetting press enables automated operation, which improves production efficiency, reduces transportation costs, and effectively supports scrap recycling operations.

On-site PLCs in the briquetting press are connected to WideIOT industrial intelligent gateways via serial ports or Ethernet ports. The gateways perform protocol parsing, data acquisition, and transmission tasks. They collect parameters such as oil level, pressure, vibration, and other critical data, and upload them to a cloud platform or local host computer for monitoring, display, and alerting. The system can promptly detect faults and trigger timely responses, including remote control or remote maintenance, ensuring safe and stable equipment operation and preventing safety incidents.

System Functions

1. PLC Data Acquisition
The gateway features rich protocol parsing capabilities and is compatible with PLCs from major brands such as Siemens, Mitsubishi, Omron, Schneider, Delta, Inovance, and others for real-time data collection.

2. PLC Online Monitoring
The gateway supports various networking options including 5G, 4G, Wi-Fi, and Ethernet. Equipment operation status and technical parameters can be monitored and viewed on cloud platforms or local touchscreen HMIs.

3. PLC Fault Alerts
When equipment data exceeds preset upper or lower limits or when other faults occur, the system automatically sends alerts to notify managers. Alerts can be delivered via WeChat, SMS, email, and other channels, enabling prompt management and control actions.

4. PLC Remote Control
The system supports remote start/stop control of pumps and valves, as well as scheduled on/off operations. This allows for timely intervention to prevent major accidents and mitigate potential risks.

5. PLC Remote Maintenance
Engineers at remote locations can perform remote programming, debugging, and program upload/download operations on the field PLCs. This saves time, improves efficiency, and helps restore production quickly.

By implementing data acquisition and remote monitoring for scrap briquetting presses, managers receive real-time feedback on equipment operating status. At the same time, the system enables quality control over the briquetting process, ensuring that the finished metal bales meet quality standards and reducing the need for rework or re-pressing. This ultimately facilitates more efficient metal recycling operations.
