Siemens PLC Achieves Modbus Master-Slave Communication via Industrial IoT Gateway

The Modbus protocol is a widely adopted communication standard in the industrial sector, commonly used in programmable logic controllers (PLCs), sensors, and HMIs for data acquisition and process monitoring.

Modbus defines message structures, data formats, commands, and response mechanisms. In a master-slave communication model, the master node periodically polls the slaves to read input data and send output data. Upon receiving a valid message, a slave responds by transmitting the requested data back to the master. The master can also send direct write commands to modify data on the slave side, enabling bidirectional read/write communication.

System Integration: Data can be interfaced with external enterprise systems such as ERP or MES, enabling seamless data sharing and interoperability. This integration enhances overall system efficiency and decision-making capabilities.
