Smart Farming: LoRa Data Acquisition and 4G Cloud Monitoring Solution

Published: 2026-08-11 11:17:30
Currently, intensive livestock farming enterprises face challenges such as low production management efficiency, weak supervision, difficult cost control, high labor costs, and unavoidable human errors. These issues pose significant challenges to livestock management and animal safety. Therefore, it is essential to build an automated and digitalized farming management system to achieve smart farming.

Based on the specific needs of livestock farming enterprises, WideIOT provides a LoRa data acquisition and 4G cloud monitoring solution that integrates farming information with production management. The solution enables automated collection and monitoring of the farming environment, early warning of abnormal conditions, remote control and maintenance of equipment, helping enterprises reduce labor and management costs, improve farming efficiency, and achieve safer and more timely livestock management.

1. Data Acquisition
Through LoRa wireless networking, data acquisition terminals collect information from devices such as air temperature and humidity sensors, CO₂ sensors, and illuminance sensors, and transmit the collected data to an industrial IoT gateway. The gateway then uploads the data to the smart farming cloud platform via a 4G network.

The system enables real-time monitoring of key environmental parameters within the livestock farm, including temperature, humidity, illuminance, and harmful gases such as NH₃ and H₂S.
Network cameras can also be integrated into the system, allowing video data to be transmitted together with sensor data and displayed on the same screen. Parameters such as data types, acquisition frequency, and acquisition intervals can be flexibly configured according to actual farming requirements.

2. Smart Management
Through the smart farming cloud platform, accessible via smartphones, computers, tablets, and other terminals, administrators can receive alarm notifications whenever abnormal environmental conditions are detected. The system provides detailed information such as the abnormal parameter, occurrence time, and other relevant data, enabling timely corrective actions.

The platform also supports the remote management and control of farming equipment, including dehumidifiers, heaters, automatic window openers, infrared lamps, fans, and other devices. Operators can remotely start or stop equipment, adjust operating modes, and configure operating parameters.

In addition, the solution supports remote programming, debugging, and program upload/download for PLC-based automation equipment, allowing engineers to perform maintenance and troubleshooting remotely without having to travel to the livestock farm, significantly improving maintenance efficiency.

3. Data Analysis
Through various data charts, trend curves, and statistical reports, enterprises can gain insights into equipment operating efficiency, farm energy consumption, animal health conditions, and environmental change patterns.

Based on these data insights, managers can make more scientific and informed decisions, optimize farming operations, improve animal health and safety management, and reduce the risk of major production incidents.

By integrating LoRa wireless data acquisition, 4G connectivity, industrial IoT gateways, cloud monitoring, remote equipment control, and data analytics, the WideIOT smart farming solution helps livestock enterprises move from traditional manual management toward a more automated, digitalized, and intelligent farming model.
