What Networking Methods Are Available for Industrial Intelligent Gateways?

Published: 2026-08-07 13:55:26
WideIOT industrial intelligent gateway is a data acquisition device designed for a variety of industrial IoT scenarios. It can collect data from PLCs, instruments and meters, CNC machine tools, industrial robots, sensors, and other equipment, and upload the data to cloud platforms or local host computers. It enables functions such as remote monitoring, fault alarms, remote control, and remote maintenance, allowing equipment manufacturers and equipment users to check equipment status and process parameters at any time, thereby enabling timely management and control to ensure the safety and stability of industrial production.

WideIOT industrial intelligent gateway supports networking methods including 5G/4G, Wi-Fi, and Ethernet. It should be noted that only one networking method can be selected at a time; two methods cannot be used simultaneously.

When the gateway is set to dial-up mode (4G/5G Internet access mode, requiring a built-in IoT SIM card), the system will start an unattended watchdog program. If it detects that no SIM card is inserted, no antenna is connected, or the mobile account has insufficient balance, it will enter diagnostic mode and restart the network. Therefore, during debugging, if 4G/5G Internet access is not being used, the dial-up network should be disabled first.

When the gateway is set to Wi-Fi mode (where Wi-Fi coverage is available on site), the SSID and password of the target Wi-Fi network must be entered. To access the external network via Wi-Fi, select Client mode; to share the Wi-Fi hotspot with other devices, select AP mode.

When the gateway is set to Ethernet mode (the gateway is connected to devices via an Ethernet cable), select the communication protocol (static IP address, DHCP client, or PPPoE — choose one of the three) to verify the gateway's data communication capabilities.
