IoT Solution for PLC Data Acquisition and Remote Monitoring of Setting Machines

Published: 2026-08-04 13:25:21
Setting machines are common equipment in textile printing and dyeing mills. After fabric is thoroughly impregnated with various chemical agents, it enters a drying oven where it is rapidly set under high-temperature hot air. This process gives the fabric good hand feel and dimensional stability, making setting machines widely used in the production of curtains, socks, shoe uppers, printed textiles, and other woven products.

Setting machines equipped with PLC-based control systems enable automated production. They accurately regulate steam pressure, pressure build-up, and the on/off switching of electric heating equipment, while also monitoring and controlling parameters such as temperature, humidity, and pressure. To address this, WideIOT offers industrial IoT gateways that enable PLC data acquisition and communication—delivering remote monitoring, fault alarming, remote control, and remote maintenance capabilities for setting machines, helping factories better manage and optimize both equipment and production operations.

Solution Overview

PLCs are connected to WideIOT industrial gateways via serial or Ethernet ports. The gateways can collect data from multiple devices and provide network connectivity via 5G, 4G, Wi-Fi, or Ethernet. After edge computing processes the data, it is transmitted in real time to cloud platforms or local host computers for management, visualization, and analysis. The data can also be uploaded to SCADA or HMI configuration software to enable real-time monitoring and alarming across multiple devices and data types.

Upon receiving alarm notifications, management personnel can take actions such as remote control, remote maintenance, or on-site inspections to diagnose and troubleshoot faulty equipment. This ensures safe and stable operation, reduces resource waste, and improves overall production efficiency.
