Solution for Protocol Conversion and Wireless Networking System for Commercial & Industrial PV Power Stations

Published: 2026-06-12 11:49:27

A certain company is actively promoting the development of commercial and industrial (C&I) photovoltaic (PV) power generation business. The number of users and installed capacity is increasing year by year, and powerrelated risks are becoming more apparent. Issues such as reverse overload, high voltage during the day, and low voltage at night are occurring frequently. In addition, limited manpower and resources are making it increasingly difficult to manage the growing workload. Therefore, digital transformation of PV power stations has become an urgent necessity.

To address this, WideIOT deploys a PV protocol conversion gateway. The gateway connects to inverters via RS485 serial ports to collect Modbus data, and then communicates with the dispatch center using the IEC101 protocol over 4G. This meets the requirements for remote data transmission from PV power stations. As a result, companies can remotely monitor equipment status, receive alerts, perform remote control and adjustment, and analyze statistical data—providing reliable support for the intelligent management of PV power stations.

Key Features

The gateway comes with RS485/RS232 serial ports and Ethernet ports, enabling data collection from energy devices using protocols such as DLT645, CJ188, IEC101/103/104, and IEC61850. It also supports uplink protocols including Modbus, MQTT, IEC104, and OPC UA.

By binding data variables, the cloudbased data dashboard can display realtime AC/DC voltage and current, instantaneous power, daily energy yield, and equipment temperature for each inverter. It also uses visual flow diagrams to illustrate the overall plant efficiency and energy flow.

When the gateway detects abnormal parameters from an inverter, the system automatically triggers alerts and notifies managers via WeChat, SMS, or email. It also creates inspection and maintenance work orders in the work order module, helping managers respond quickly and perform maintenance operations efficiently.

Daily and monthly reports are automatically generated, comparing historical solar irradiation data with power generation to accurately calculate the performance ratio (PR). This provides a datadriven basis for decisions such as panel cleaning and replacement of underperforming equipment, enabling optimized allocation of personnel, spare parts, and other resources.

The gateway is designed with industrialgrade features, including wide temperature and voltage tolerance, strong interference immunity, and rugged durability. It also supports automatic reconnection after network outages and data resumption from interruptions (storeandforward), ensuring reliable longterm operation in outdoor environments with complete and accurate data.
