Application of Low-Power 4G Data Acquisition Terminal in Remote Hydrological and Water Resource Monitoring

Published: 2026-06-11 13:36:37

In today’s water resource management and disaster prevention efforts, achieving continuous and stable monitoring of remote hydrological stations that lack grid electricity or are unmanned has long been a challenge. Traditional monitoring methods are often limited by high costs related to labor, transportation, and logistics, making it difficult to meet the demands of round-the-clock, real-time data monitoring and management. There is an urgent need for more efficient and reliable solutions.

WideIOT’s 4G data acquisition terminal integrates lithium battery/solar power supply, multiple I/O ports, analog/digital data acquisition, RS485/RS232/Ethernet communication, 4G/WiFi wireless communication, and an embedded management platform. It is specifically designed to provide stable and reliable wireless data communication solutions for equipment data collection, remote control, condition monitoring, remote maintenance, and distributed site management.

The device features low-power design, wide temperature tolerance, wide voltage input, strong electrostatic protection, and both hardware and software watchdogs. It supports connectivity to major IoT platforms such as Baidu, Huawei, and Alibaba, as well as SSL encrypted transmission. It is widely used in unattended scenarios such as smart agriculture, smart water conservancy, industrial IoT, environmental monitoring, security access control, and photovoltaic/energy storage sites.

Application Scenarios

1. Monitoring and management of water infrastructure such as reservoirs, rivers, and lakes. By collecting real-time data on water levels and flow rates, the system can provide early warnings of flood disasters, helping to protect people’s lives and property.

2. Farmland irrigation and water resource management. By monitoring data from integrated control gates and channel flow levels, irrigation volumes can be adjusted reasonably, reducing the impact of drought and improving water use efficiency in agriculture.

3. Urban drainage and flood prevention information systems. The system enables real-time monitoring of flow rates, flow velocity, water levels in drainage networks, and urban waterlogging conditions, providing reliable data support for municipal management and flood disaster reduction efforts.

4. Environmental protection applications, enabling real-time monitoring and automatic alerts for water quality, flow rate, and water temperature at locations such as water supply and drainage outlets, groundwater sources, rivers, and lakes. This helps ensure the continuous and effective operation of water ecosystem protection mechanisms.
