With the continuous acceleration of urbanization, road construction and maintenance work have become increasingly important. In this context, milling machines, as efficient road repair equipment, have found wider applications.
However, during actual operations, factors such as machine wear and human error often make it difficult to achieve ideal milling results. To address this issue, WideIOT (formerly known as Wutong Bolian) has introduced a data acquisition, monitoring, operation, and maintenance system for milling machines.I. Problem Analysis
Traditional milling operations primarily rely on the experience of operators and lack real-time monitoring and data analysis tools.
Consequently, when encountering complex road conditions, it becomes challenging to accurately judge key parameters such as milling depth and width, leading to unstable project quality. Additionally, the absence of effective supervision over the milling process results in a higher failure rate of mechanical equipment and increased maintenance costs.II. Solution
To tackle the aforementioned issues, we propose a data acquisition, monitoring, operation, and maintenance system for milling machines based on Internet of Things (IoT) technology.
This system accesses the milling machine's controller PLC through an industrial smart gateway, enabling real-time acquisition and monitoring of various parameters during the milling process. The data is then uploaded to a cloud server for storage and processing. By leveraging big data analysis techniques and artificial intelligence algorithms, the system can mine vast amounts of historical data to identify key factors affecting milling quality, thereby optimizing process flows and enhancing work efficiency.
III. System Functions
Real-time Monitoring: The system can acquire and display the milling machine's operational status, work parameters, and location information in real time, helping users stay informed about the machine's condition at all times.
Fault Warning: Through notification methods such as WeChat, SMS, and email, the system can monitor faults and issue warnings, enabling users to take timely measures and prevent failures.
Data Analysis: The system stores historical operational data of the milling machine, which users can query at any time.
This data provides a basis for later fault analysis and performance optimization, facilitating informed decision-making.Operation and Maintenance Management: The system manages maintenance work orders, allowing users to query responsible personnel, maintenance progress, and work logs.
It enables timely intervention and measures when issues arise.Remote Maintenance: The system supports remote programming, debugging, and uploading/downloading of programs for PLCs located remotely, enhancing work efficiency.
